THE ROLE This role sits alongside BCV's investing team and will own the data layer that powers our investing AI engine – you’ll work closely with investors to build pipelines, signals and automations to identify investment opportunities. This is a hybrid builder role for someone with a T shaped skillset – an expert in data science but capable across the full stack (product, engineering and AI). It's high-ownership with plenty of variety: you'll architect pipelines one week and shadow a live deal the next. RESPONSIBILITIES - Build and own end-to-end data pipelines and infrastructure that ingest, clean, and unify internal and third-party sources into reliable, queryable systems for the investment team, that can be effectively integrated into downstream AI systems - Design and deploy workflow automations that streamline sourcing, diligence, and portfolio monitoring - Build internal tools and dashboards that scale across the firm for data-driven diligence and proactive investing - Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across the investing team, platform team, and broader Bain Capital REQUIREMENTS - 4+ years in data engineering, data science, solutions architecture, or forward-deployed engineering - AI-native: you rely on tools like Claude Code, Cursor, etc. every day to multiply your productivity while keeping yourself accountable for a high quality bar. You keep yourself up-to-date on the latest coding technology and regularly uplevel your AI workflows - Advanced Python and SQL; strong command of building production data pipelines and working with large, messy datasets - Experience with data visualization and workflow automation tooling - Experience with Snowflake, DBT, and Fivetran (or similar tools) - Strong collaboration and communication skills; bonus points for experience building for non-technical stakeholders NICE TO HAVE - Exposure to venture capital, private equity, or financial services, and a working understanding of investment and valuation principles - Experience deploying LLM/AI-powered tools or automation into real workflows - Experience with data-driven investing and/or investment model development - Experience with advanced machine learning techniques and/or statistical modeling LOCATION This is a hybrid role based in BCV's San Francisco office (near Jackson Square). Case-by-case exceptions for the NYC office may be considered, depending on prior experience. In both SF and NYC, there is an in-office expectation averaging 3+ days per week. COMPENSATION The base salary range for this role is $180,000-$250,000 dependent on experience. In addition, this role is eligible for BCV's annual bonus program; firm benefits spanning healthcare, travel, 401(k), and more; and profit-sharing plan.
